I dipped into a little Soren Kierkegaard this weekend, and was blown away by his commentary on one of Jesus’ statements.

His commentary brought out this incredibly rich, multilayered meaning that I overlooked for 30 years.

It reminded me to keep fighting for the time and space to think deeply.

Without that time and space for deep, rigorous thinking, Kierkegaard would have missed the deeper meaning in that passage.

You don’t arrive at deeper levels of meaning by skimming.

The same is true when it comes to business – especially problem solving.

My ability to solve problems is directly related to my capacity for deep, rigorous thinking.

So I have to keep timeblocking that in. And then fight to preserve the timeblock.
