I’m interviewing an entrepreneur today for the upcoming Pursuing Results Podcast. He’s sharing the book Essentialism by Greg McKeown.

The book reminded me that it’s hard for me to say no to opportunity.

Sometimes it’s the awkwardness of the moment, but I’ve gotten at overcoming the awkwardness of saying no.

For me, it’s the vision of the new opportunity. Seeing the possibilities and wanting to build something, to bring something new into existence.

I wish I could pursue every opportunity that came my way. But as of right now, I’m closing myself down. Not to new clients, of course.

Just to new business ventures, partnership opportunities, outside projects and anything that distracts me from the 3 core things I’m involved in right now.

One of the quotes that bothered me the most in the book is “I have coached successful people in the pain of trying desperately to do everything, perfectly, now.”

I refuse to live my life in desperation mode.
